This is Bob, my binaural microphone.
A binaural recording is essentially a stereo recording. If recorded with a binaural dummy head microphone like Bob, the sound image will be very realistic if you listen to it with headphones. If you listen to a regular stereo recording with head phones, the sound image will seem to be inside your head. A binaural recording will seem very much outside your head, and the location of the sounds you hear will be much more accurate. Listen to these samples with headphones to get the full 3D effect.

"Dogz" was a recording of my two dogs (Bazil Rathbone--the old geezer dog, and Jesse the "apprentice" dog) and the neighbor's dog, Roxy. While I was recording, I noticed that a small poodle dog had somehow gotten inside the fence. Click here to enjoy "Dogz".

"Thunder" was recorded from my carport during a typical southern thunderstorm. Click here to enjoy "Thunder".

"Train" is a recording of the train at Stone Mountain Park. Be warned--the train horn is quite loud. Click here to enjoy "Train".

"My One and Only Love" is a recording I made at a friend's family reunion. His cousin plays "My One and Only Love" on saxaphone, dedicating it to my friend's mother. Later we were able to share this recording with her and other recordings from the reunion to her delight, shortly before she passed away. Click here to listen to the recording.
